"For the very first time, I am me" Joseph sings on the first track of his new EP entitled Seeds I'm Sowing. The track is called Halfway There, and it embodies the message of the debut solo effort for 18-year-old Joseph Barrios.
Moving from Memphis to Nashville this past year, he spent his time writing about changes, departure, and growing up. Barrios takes a new musical direction with Seeds I'm Sowing from his previous work with Memphis alternative rock/punk band The Ne'er-Do-Wells (
theneerdowells.bandcamp.com). This EP has many ranging from emotional acoustic ballads, driving Americana style rock n' roll, to his Memphis roots of blues and soul. In 2011, Joseph formed a band with fellow students at Belmont University consisting of Luke Marshall on Guitar, Erik Coveny on Bass, and Patrick Anderson on Drums. He also teamed up with audio engineering students Cory Wilhite and Matt Longworth to produce the record. Recording began in February of 2011 and was finished soon after in April, and was released on May 8th, 2011.
